The Experience

The Clearing Experience is a life-changing process that moves couples from feeling hopeless and helpless to having clear understanding, clear direction and renewed hope.

Over the course of four days the skilled Clearing team works with a couple in a group setting alongside four other couples. The focus is on helping the couple understand how they have arrived at this state in their marriage, what barriers are keeping them stuck and blocking them from the marriage they’ve always wanted, and finally, how they can practically create a great marriage for themselves. No couple ever intends to end up in crisis, but through life’s circumstances and difficult choices couples end up feeling trapped having tried their best to succeed over many years.

While going through the Clearing Experience couples encounter warmth and Texas hospitality with all the distractions of life cleared away. Although the experience is aptly called an “intensive”, the challenging work translates into genuine fulfillment, hope, and direction.

Nestled in the historic community of Schulenburg, Jordan Ranch is centrally located between Houston, Austin and San Antonio. All 22 rooms (3 suites and 19 double or twin rooms) have been gracefully designed in “Texas Rustic Elegance” and epitomize good taste with stately wooden furniture and rich fabrics. Amenities include wireless internet access, a full catering service, and a serene, peaceful environment, ensure to provide an unprecedented experience. Jordan Ranch is a smoke and alcohol-free facility.

From Katy, TX
Take I-10 W for approximately 70 miles. Take exit 668 FM-2238/ENGLE. Turn right on FM 2238. Stay on FM 2238 for 1 mile. Take a right at the entrance.

Driving Directions from San Antonio Airport:
From the airport via Loop 410 East, merge onto Loop 410 South. Stay on Loop 410 South for 2.8 miles. Take exit 33 to merge onto I-10 E toward Houston.
Stay on I-10 E for approximately 87 miles. Take exit 668 FM-2238/ENGLE. Turn left on FM 2238. Stay on FM 2238 for 1 mile. Take a right at the entrance.

Driving Directions from Austin Airport:
From the airport via TX-71 E, take the ramp toward TX-71-BR/La Grange/FM-609. Stay on TX-71 E for 51.8 miles. Keep left at the fork to go on TX-71 W. TX-71 W becomes TX-71 BR. Turn right onto FM 609. Turn left onto FM 2436. Turn right onto US-77. Turn right onto FM 956. Turn left onto FM 2238. Stay on FM 2238 for 2.8 miles. Take a left at the entrance.

Future Location

The Clearing’s headquarters in Brenham are in a pre-construction phase. Until ribbon-cutting of the new multi-cottage retreat center, intensives are being held at Jordan Ranch in Schulenberg, TX. Please contact us by email for more information on the location of upcoming retreats.

The Clearing's new permanent facilities will be conveniently located almost at the midpoint between Houston, Austin, and San Antonio. The new environmentally-friendly facility will be nestled in a forest-surrounded clearing on a 300-acre ranch in the rolling hills of Washington County Texas, about 8 miles outside of Brenham.
